ETC takes Selador® LED lighting on tour through Southern Europe

Monday, June 28, 2010 || ETC

ETC’s Rome office has been busy taking the new ETC Selador series of LED fixtures on tour. At the third Festival of Scenic Arts at the Casa dell’Architettura in Rome, Fulvio Cotogni, ETC’s Regional Manager for Southern Europe, joined Italian-based lighting designer A.J. Weissbard on stage to discuss the latest developments in the Selador series. In spite of the ash cloud from the Icelandic volcano, which prevented many invited European speakers from attending, the four-day conference saw audience figures top 800.

“Selador received a great deal of interest at the festival,” commented Cotogni. Attendees had a chance to see the newest additions to the product range -- the Selador Vivid-R™, the Vivid Fire and the Vivid Ice. The Vivid-R fixture provides a stunning 50% increase on the original Vivid -- while consuming 10% less power. It combines high-power Luxeon Rebel LEDs and high-efficiency lenses for its color production and lighting punch. And because of the low heat output of all Selador Series LED fixtures, Vivid-R’s colors can be blazing -- without overheating the talent. The Fire™ offers light intensity across a stunning red-orange-yellow palette. Ice™ offers gorgeous shades of blue, indigo, cyan, and green.

The entire Selador range was designed with theater use in mind, and visitors saw that difference ‘in the flesh.’ As Cotogni explains, “A critical thing, from a theatrical point of view, is how Selador LED lighting renders skin tones in the very natural way that tungsten does, while using a fraction of the energy.”

A few weeks later, the Selador tour officially opened with a presentation and workshop at Rome’s Teatro Italia, attracting lighting directors and technicians from the theater, film and TV industry. ETC Project Manager Davide Gabbani gave a series of presentations on stage to demonstrate the power and versatility of Selador fixtures. He used an ETC Eos® console to control the LED luminaires and media-server content.

Cotogni and Gabbani also demoed the full range of ETC consoles -- the Eos, Congo and SmartFade families.

Later this year, the Selador roadshow travels to Portugal, Spain and Greece to show local lighting professionals firsthand what these innovative LED fixtures and ETC control desks can do.
