ETC at the 2010 Tony Awards

Monday, June 21, 2010 || ETC

The stars of the stage weren’t the only ones shining brightly at the 64th Annual Tony Awards on Sunday, June 13th. Broadway’s elites accepted their awards and performed in front of a live audience and millions of fans watching on television, while being illuminated by lighting that included ETC products. The Tony Awards’ Lighting Designer Robert Dickerson and Production Electrician Mike Pitzer used an ETC Eos® lighting control console to program and run all the conventional lighting used in the show.

It was also a night full of wins and nominations for Broadway productions that use ETC equipment. ETC congratulates Lighting Designer Kevin Adams, who took home the Tony for Best Lighting Design of a Musical for his impressive work on American Idiot. The show’s spectacular lighting – which combines elements of concert and theatrical lighting with loads of special effects – includes dozens of ETC Source Four® and Source Four PAR™ fixtures and is controlled by an Eos system. ETC Field Service Engineer Victor Seastone also had a hand in the lighting, assisting Adams in programming the show for American Idiot. Another nominee this year for Best Lighting Design of a Musical was Nick Richings for La Cage aux Folles, which was also lit by an Eos console. And in the category of Best Lighting Design of a Play, Brian MacDevitt was nominated for Fences, which was run on an ETC Ion® control board.
