Apollo recently fulfilled all pre-orders for the Right Arm™, a unique automated yoke device that adds console controlled pan & tilt movement to a variety of static gear.
“The extra time we took to bring this exciting product to market was worth it,” states Apollo Product Manager Jeff Mateer. “Suggestions from potential users during prototype demonstrations of the Right Arm resulted in additional design, component, and software features that have translated into an extremely functional product. Building them into the first production units has eliminated the need for a Right Arm II.”
Feedback from some of the first recipients of the Right Arm also supports the decision. “We love our Right Arms. They do exactly what we wanted and have performed as advertised,” states Sarah Schreiber Prince, Director of Technical Services at the University of Notre Dame. And Geoff Spain, Technical Coordinator at the Snape Maltings Concert Hall in Suffolk, UK, said “The last-minute requests of the average musician can mean frequent runs up the lift to refocus. My Right Arms have eliminated this. They are straightforward to set up and do exactly what I need.”
Both users praised two of the most appreciated Right Arm features – its ability to accept a wide range of different sized instruments and its extremely quiet movement – and agreed that controlling static fixtures from a console saves them money by allowing better utilization of the lighting rig and reducing labor. With its flexibility, they envision numerous repositioning applications for the Right Arm in theatrical and church productions, corporate events, and trade shows.
