The Harajuku Lovers Tour is Gwen Stefanis first successful solo tour in North America. At this tour the famous No Doubt singer presented her multi-platinum album Love.Angel.Music.Baby as well. Together with her creative & tour director Ray Woodbury Stefani designed/made a new base concept for this tour to show the new style of the artist in an impressive way. The competent designer Justin Collie was responsible for the main important element video. Once again the grandMA multimedia consoles proved their reliability and made the show run smoothly.
Lighting Designer David Fuji Convertino and video director Danny Whetstone were each working with one grandMA full-size for the programming of the lighting and video parts of the show. During the show both consoles are working in the master/slave mode together with 3 NSPs (network signal processors) in the MA-Net. Lighting Designer David Fuji Convertino controls the complete show via one console. Convertino explained The two grandMA consoles are equipped with different view screens for lighting and video. When programming the show this makes it possible for me to work with my views for the lighting system whereas Justin Collie and the video programmer Breck Haggerty could use the views especially designed for the media servers. This made the whole programming very easy for us.
For this tremendous show Justin Collie created a performance area with three different levels for Stefani, the dancers and the musicians/band. Video elements were integrated in two levels and at the same time there were different sized and shaped projection areas, partially also controlled by motor, they could work with. In total eight media server for video- and live input were used.
