Into the Millennium Complex

Located on a prime site in Plymouth, Union Street, the Millennium Complex represents Northern Leisure's biggest club venture to date.

Housed in an old cinema complex, formerly Oz/Blonds Nightclub, the entire site has undergone an extensive refurbishment, with the whole project being completed in only twelve weeks. The result is a stunning multi-themed bar and club complex with mass appeal. It consists of two main clubs on the first floor, the Millennium Discotheque and Lancons Nightclub, both with a capacity of 750.

Below the club level lies The Boulevard, an indoor street design with a Spanish theme. Three individually themed bars - The Beach Bar, The Sports Bar and Murphy¹s traditional Irish pub - providing an overall capacity of 3,100 are located off The Piazza, each with their own shop front. Throughout the Millennium Complex, lighting and sound installers Over Audio specified a massive amount of high-tech lighting.

The Millennium Discotheque caters to the 18-25 group with mainstream chart and dance music. One of the main features is a huge lighting rig which can be raised or lowered via remote control. The Martin lighting in the discotheque includes 1 Mac 1200, 24 Pro 812 Roboscans, 4 Pro 1220 Roboscans, 1 RoboColor III system, 6 RoboColor II systems and 8 Destroyers with control via Martin 3064 and 2518 controllers and effects from 2 Pro 2000 smoke machines.

The second club, Lancons Nightclub, catering to the over 25's, occupies three levels with the dancefloor in the middle. Lighting is provided by 4 Martin Pro 1200 RoboScans, 4 RoboColor III systems, 16 Pro 812 RoboScans and 8 Destroyers are controlled via Martin 2510 and 2518 controllers, again with effects from 2 Pro 2000 smoke machines.

Over Audio also specified 4 RoboScan 812s controlled by a Martin 2510 controller in the Piazza and 4 Pro 812s and 2 RoboColor II systems with a 2510 controller in the Beach Bar.

Millennium Complex in Plymouth is another example of the close association between Martin Pro in the UK and leading leisure operator Northern Leisure.
